The Master Perfumer Session: From Brief to Bottle
In part two of The Master Perfumer Session, Patty Canac and Clémentine Humeau reveal how they turned our creative brief into the scents that became Prem Rouge.
Starting with Story
"We were touched by Arpit's story," Clémentine begins, explaining how his personal experience guided their work.
The brief wasn't just technical specifications. It was a starting point.
"That inspired us to use words from the brief to create a story," she continues. "A story that would evoke two landscapes - that of India and the South of France."
Two Places, One Challenge
The task was clear but complex: capture two very different places in scent.
India and the South of France.
Different climates, cultures, histories.
"Two completely different landscapes," Clémentine says. "But we found our approach by exploring the yin and yang of each flower."
Making It Work
Rose and tuberose became their tools. Each flower connected to place, but both speaking the same language of scent.
They took the words we gave them. Added their expertise. Built something that worked.
The contrast between the flowers - their different qualities - helped bridge the gap between two worlds.
This was craft, not magic. Taking a brief and making it real.
Next week: The technical challenges they faced bringing this vision to life.
