The Master Perfumer Session: A Different Kind of Perfume

In part six of The Master Perfumer Session, Patty Canac and Clémentine Humeau explain how Prem Rouge behaves differently because it contains no alcohol.

Intimate, Not Loud

"Since these are alcohol-free fragrances and a new technology, the way you apply perfume will be different," Clémentine explains. "That is to say, we are not going to drench ourselves in perfume, but the way to apply this perfume is in an intimate way, for the person close to us."

This isn't about making a statement across a room.

"The composition of water will not necessarily allow perfumes to go very far," she continues. "But it will stay for a very long time in an intimate, close space, but very tenacious."

Staying Power

The proof is in the wearing.

"Last week I used the rose perfume and I still have it on my coat today," Clémentine shares. "This rose doesn't shout, but it speaks in a straightforward, humble way. It's calm and speaks very slowly, so it will take its time to speak."

Different technology. Different behavior.

The Tuberose Difference

"The tuberose seems the same to me," she continues. "Sometimes tuberoses are criminal in their seductiveness. It can be very extroverted. It can help build your confidence to scent yourself with tuberose because you suddenly feel immense."

But not this tuberose.

"There are thousands of tuberose, but this one whispers very slowly. Its rhythm is different. The rhythm of these perfumes lasts a very long time and very slowly."

Two Worlds, One Experience

"And above all we didn't tell an individual story," Clémentine reflects. "We have amalgamated two majestic worlds. The south of France and India. You are truly part of this tuberose journey."

The goal wasn't just scent. It was connection.

"How can we convey its true essence and make it shine."
